Hugh Williams (Wuthering Heights) is Sir Robert Chiltern, a prospective Cabinet minister who discovers that his career may be in jeopardy due to the surprising and unwelcomed appearance of adventuress Mrs. Cheveley (Paulette Goddard – The Diary of a Chambermaid).
